The cold weather was back for today
but the rain held off for the afternoon which saw plenty of young horses
making promising starts to their race careers.
The first race for 2yos over
1000m saw the Victorian visitor Demasheen take her record to 2 wins from
4 starts and remains unbeaten this campaign. Demasheen defeated
the gallant Marble Rye with The Empress third. In the second race
for 2yos (over 1400m) Anddoubt was far to good racing away to win easily
from Spirit of Endeavour with Saturday Affair third. Anddoubt is
from the local stable of P Stokes and is by Not a Single Doubt while
second placed Spirit of Endeavour was imported from the United States
and is by the Seattle Slew line stallion Purge from More Than Ready mare
Well Hidden.
Akhadan gelding Handsome As
continued his great form this campaign winning his 4th race from 6
starts this time in and 5th racewin from 26 overall cruising away for an
easy victory from Our Iridium with Chilli Deva third. The next
race saw the very promising Avoid Lightning take her record to 5 starts
for 4 wins winning from Emmooki's Dash with Draw Forward third.
Avoid Lightning is by Blevic from Success Express mare Ya Michelle and
again underlines what a blow to the industry the loss of Blevic is.
Emmooki's Dash has now also had 5 starts for 2 wins and 2 seconds and
tried hard to catch the winner.
In
the 5th race Silent Surround sat wide then stormed around the field to
win with authority from Langridge Street and Zerprise Us All. In
the next Light Express made it three from three this preparation
defeating North Beach and Riahgrand while race 7 saw the Victorian
raiders continue on their winning way with Justify That repeating his
recent win defeating Road Warrior and Addiction to Rock. In the
last race for 3yos the grey Misty Eyes proved too good for Filiar
Invictus with Puzzleman third.
Next Saturday sees the next leg of
the Over the Rainbow winter jumps series
