In the steaming hot
weather the first race of the day was the 2yo event where Typhoon (by
Hard Spun) in having her second start was too good defeating Burnro with
Tikitour third. In the second race Barigan Boy was on the 7day
back up and easily defated Roccin Jo with Mahmentum third making it four
wins from his last 6 starts. In the third the Victorian General
Offer fought back strongly when challenged to narrowly defeat Karacatis
with Dubawi Gold third. By General Nediym the winner takes his
record to 14 starts for 4 wins and 4 placings.
In a rough run to
the line Debeersonus crossed the line just ahead of Richie's Vibe with
Exalted Appeal third but the first two placings were reversed after a
protest was upheld giving the race to Richie's Vibe by Danerich who
takes his record to two wins from three starts. In another close
finish in the next race the lightly raced Tycoon Heights was too good
winning his 3rd race from 5 starts in defeating Red Eclipse with Raise a
Heart third.
The feature race of
the day was next with topweight Pelicano storming home to win the Listed
Birthday Cup from the gallant Generous Beau with Waratone third.
Pelicano has now won 7 races from 14 starts and may head interstate for
further stakes races. In the last race Oui Si Attitude returned to
her best form winning from St Gabriel with Tommy Two third.
Last start Oui Si Attitude had run fourth after being scratched the
previous week when she played up badly in the mounting yard which was
completely out of character for the mare and now takes her record to 30
starts for 7 wins and 4 placings.
