Morphettville Races - Pictorial Report

22 June 2013

The day started with the Leslie Short Hurdle where Dumosa soon settled in front from Apostle then Zaman followed by Dubai Vengence then Sparkling Victory and Best of Minx as the capacity field of 14 made their way into the straight.  By the 1600m Dumosa led Zaman and Apostle then Bring Them On from Sparkling Victory, Dubai Vengence folowed by Backburn.  Over the jump at the 1000m Dumosa led Apostle and Zaman then Bring Them On as Sparkling Victory landed awkwardly dropping back into the path of Backburn as both lost momentum as King Triton took off around the outside.  Around the home turn Dumosa led Zaman from King Triton then Sparkling Victory who rebalanced to continue to run on from Bring Them On.  Over the second last both Dumosa and Zaman had moved wide on the track as King Triton made a move up the inside.  King Triton hit the front over the last from Dumosa and Zaman with Sparkling Victory battling on behind them clear of Honour The Force.  In the run to the line King Triton came away to win as he liked from Dumosa who held off Zaman for second with Sparkling Victory holding fourth from Honour The Force.  King Triton has now had 6 jumps starts for 2 wins and 4 placings.

The second race for 2yos was taken out by the Victorian runner Mystical Miss from the Peter Moody stable and ridden by D Tourneur from first starter Time To Test with Mermaid Run third.  Mystical Miss is by More Than Ready from the VRC Oaks winner Magical Miss and has now had 4 starts for 2 wins and a placing.

The third race saw the return of Aregee McLaren after a 6 months spell and he stormed home to win in brilliant fashion from Weekend Special with Dubawi Gold third.  Aregee McLaren has now won 4 of 6 starts plus 2 placings and is from the Goolwa stable of D Jolly.

Zerprise Us All was untroubled to win the next from Pretty Blonde with Full Bore third.  Zerprise Us All is trained by M Huxtable and has now won 5 from 17 with 5 placings.

Mr Zoolander made it 2 from 4 starts in defeating Saturday Sourcer and It's Fred and made it three in a row for the SA stables being trained by T McEvoy and ridden by J Kah.

Classy Chloe was too good for a classy field in the next defeating Lionhearted Girl with Conduction third while D Jolly made it a training double in winning the next with Wicked Dreams from Super Silks and Zoom Lad.

In the last race Finniss Power (by Nickelmine) defeated Halayr Jet with Stella Jeune third.  Finniss Power is trained by W Francis and took his record to 4 starts for 2 wins and 2 placings with plenty of promise for the future.
