The first day of the event
was held in hot conditions where Christine Bates and Kung Fu Panda GP
took the lead in the 2 star class on 47.50 with Megan Jones and Kirby
Park Invader in second on 48.50. Kirby Park Invader is by Kirby
Park Nantamboo a stock horse and is out of the thoroughbred mare Zelens
Leap (by Salmon Leap). In third place with 49.40 was Eleanor
Osborne and Highborne Rocker who raced as Off My Rocker for one win and
3 placings from 23 starts and raced in country Queensland. In
fourth place was Magan Jones and Kirby Park Impress on 50.80 just ahead
of Kirsty Douglas and Cushavon Crackerjack on 51.30.
On the Friday the 4 star
competitors took centre stage in the afternoon where Megan Jones and
Kirby Park Allofasudden led on 51.50 from Belinda Isbister and Holy
Bruce on 56.80. Kirby Park Allofasudden is by Rustic Amber from
Passionate and was purchase by the Richard Jolly stable at the Adelaide
Magic Millions sale. Named Red Ruski racing wasnt his caper and he
soon began a career with Megan Jones and was on the team for the London
Olympics until a hoof injury flared days before the event began.
Holy Bruce had a brief racing career under that name with all his starts
at Esperance Bay over the space of 3 months in 2005 and proved
unsuccessful before moving onto an equestrian career. Seumas
Marwood and Wild Oats were in third place on 58.00 then Isabel English
and Feldale Mouse on 58.30. In 5th place was Charlotte Price and
Kinnordy Gambia on 60.30 followed by Jess Manson and Legal Star on
61.80. Another stockhorse with thoroughbred lines Legal star
carries the blood of champion stallions Matrice and Vaguely Noble
through his sire Ringwould Legally. Overall less than 20 penalty
points covered the entire 14 horse field.
Other thoroughbreds off the track to compete were LP Boudin
who raced as Mr Bigalow and won a race during the 2006 Caulfield Cup
carnival, successful racehorse Papa's Dream, Kosciuszko who raced
as the successful Beau Pago in Perth, Aim HIgh who won two races in
Brisbane as Nicolo Sequalo, Better on Sunday a half brother to
Purrealist and Racing to Win who raced as Sunday Dreams winning in
Perth, GI Joe who showed ability with several race wins as Joello, Gold
who raced as Curragh Prince and had ability before ending his career in
Queensland and of course Sir Dex who won nearly a million dollars on the
racetrack including the Warwick Stakes, Prime Ministers Cup and Carbine
Club Stakes as a 3yo at Flemington. |
